Built in 1872 in Art Nouveau (Liberty) style, the villa was commissioned by Oskar von Redwitz (1823–1891), an Austrian poet who settled in Merano. He named the residence “Schillerhof” in honor of the German poet Friedrich Schiller, whom he deeply admired, even placing a sculpture of him in the villa’s private park.

The main entrance is highlighted by a covered and glass-enclosed wooden porch, while a second wooden balcony on the north side rests on inclined brackets.
The façade alternates plastered surfaces and exposed natural stone, creating a harmonious balance between elegance and rustic charm.

The windows are arranged in a regular pattern; several retain their original features, including transoms and shutters, while newer windows integrate discreetly into the historic architecture.
